The University of Liverpool were faced with a significant task when welcoming new staff to the organisation. Their face-to-face programme involved a full day out of the office with many different speakers covering a lot of information for new staff to take in. The feedback wasn’t great and the Organisational Development team wanted to offer greater support to new staff by taking the induction programme online. So they sought out expertise and we were recommended to them.
The Challenge
We started by providing consultancy on how to structure the learning design. The existing induction information was disparate, so we grouped the content into themed areas and suggested that they be delivered in a series of four engaging ‘episodes’. Using a range of approaches, such as:
video of staff from all levels within the University talking about what an inspiring place it is to work
interactives delivering interesting facts about the University past, present and future
fun quiz questions presenting further interesting facts
The induction is delivered in an attractive University-branded learning platform. It allows the University to track who has accessed the programme and who has completed the induction, so that follow-up surveys can be carried out.
The feedback from staff and senior managers across the organisation has been very positive. Over 1,150 staff have accessed the programme since it was introduced in 2011.

Working with iflourish has been a real pleasure. They form part of a small collection of people I have worked with over the last twenty years who display a rare talent in actually understanding a client’s needs. What they have delivered for us at the University has been nothing short of excellent. I would thoroughly recommend them to anyone who is looking for a quality e-learning company.
